MAJOR PROJECT

My major project for final year is a 3D printed field hockey shin guard. The concept is that in 5 – 10 years’ time 3D printing will be a more viable means of manufacture for production. This allows for certain benefits in the design. With my shin pad the core has a lattice / extrusion design which is specially developed for impact absorption ; providing greater protection than other existing shin pads.

BLACKSMITHING

I’ve always been excited to try new things out and this has often meant teaching myself the necessary skills. This extends both to my hobbies and my work. More recently I’ve been teaching myself some blacksmithing basics as it has always captured my imagination and been something I wanted to try. In order to do this I bodged together a forge which I have also used for casting aluminium parts for various other projects.
